of a Lebanese Classic by Ziad Rahbani
Bennesbeh Labokra Chou is one of the two Ziad Rahbani classics I took part in restoring. Ziad recorded footage of the play never for commercial use and consumption. Ziad's team back then only recorded the audio on a Super8, and the footage is an edit of various recitals.
The cinematic revival of this play gives fans of Ziad's a glimpse into the cultural and social aspects of Lebanon in the '70s, unlike  Film Amerki Tawil, another Ziad Rahbani play I had a hand in restoring, which highlights the political state of Lebanon.

For the first time, these listeners got to see the set, wardrobe and characters
For as far as I can remember, I've spent most of my quality time with my grandpa listening to audio versions of Ziad's classics on his cassette player. He not only played these tunes religiously, as did many of Ziad's fans, but he also used to recite Ziad's parts along with him.
As Ziad is one of the most prominent living Lebanese storytellers, it a pleasure to go over these plays several times, dissecting and outlining the chapters. This experience gave me an overview of how Lebanese people were like in 1978 and what led to the current state of Lebanon.
